Glitched Secrets

This project explores steganography, the practice of embedding secret messages within digital media, through the lens of glitch art. Traditionally, steganography has been used for covert communication, but this project reimagines it as an artistic and participatory experience. Inspired by 19th-century artist Gustave Courbet’s The Origin of the World, where a landscape painting concealed a more provocative image, this project uses AI-generated and glitched images to hide personal messages shared by participants. By crowd-sourcing these hidden messages, the project transforms steganography into a collaborative digital experiment, blurring the lines between art, technology, and privacy.
